RIS SUPPORT FOR STARTUPS AND INNOVATORS

Business Creation activities in the Central-Eastern region offer startups and innovators an opportunity to grow in areas identified as gaps hindering the development of startups in the region.

Central-Eastern Europe region is part of RIS (Regional Innovation Scheme) countries: Bulgaria, Cyprus, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Turkey, Ukraine, Guadeloupe, French Guiana, Réunion, Martinique, Mayotte and Saint-Martin (France), the Azores and Madeira (Portugal), and the Canary Islands (Spain).

As EIT Food, we aim not only at identifying and supporting agrifood startups that solve the most pressing challenges within the European food system, but also at developing founders` capacity to make it indeed happen. Each year Central & Eastern Europe is seeding with a few new ideas turning into viable businesses. We are delighted to present to you a large number of agrifood ventures from the CEE region that contribute to the transformation of the food system. This portfolio can help corporates, investors and other stakeholders to find reliable partners in their work.

Team Up

TeamUp is a 7-month programme that finds and matches up brilliant innovators with compatible and complementary profiles. TeamUp provides important tools and support to build your startup including expert guidance, world-class training, mentorship, networking and funding. These new teams will be nurtured to create strong co-founder relationships with aligned purpose and values.

For whom?

For individuals with a technology that can transform the food system who:

  • Have an impactful agrifood technology that tackles one of EIT Food's Missions
  • Want to bring your innovative solution to the market but struggle to commercialize it
  • Are passionate about entrepreneurship and want to develop and grow an impactful agrifood startup
  • Want to partner up with the right co-founder who would lead the business side of developing a startup

For individuals with skills and experience to build a successful agrifood startup who:

  • Have entrepreneurship development experience in areas like business, operations, marketing, strategy and want to apply your skills to bring an impactful agrifood solution to market
  • Are passionate about innovation and technology in the agrifood sector
  • Want to partner up with brilliant technologists and become a co-founder or team member of an innovative agrifood startup
  • Care about making a positive impact in one of EIT Food's Missions

Test Farms

Overall goal is to support technological transformation in agriculture by:

  • Enabling startups to test and validate their products and services and then showcase them to potential clients and investors
  • Giving farmers access to innovation and technology validated by EIT Food
  • Promote sustainable innovations round agriculture

For Whom?

Incorporated startups and individuals with innovative agritech solutions that can be tested on farm, with crops or livestock. The innovation should resolve an agriculture challenge related to 

  • sustainability  (input reduction)
  • precision agriculture
  • digital traceability

For farmers and primary food producers who would like to give startups opportunity to test at their farm/premises (grant from EIT Food available)!

Jumpstarter

Creative community, advanced know-how, unique programme, expert trainers and mentors, this is EIT Jumpstarter. With the contribution of best-in-class experts, creative community, unique know-how our aim is to support idea-holders to turn their ideas into business. We help innovators and entrepreneurs build a viable business model around their innovative product or service idea, validate it and if their business idea is proven to be sustainable, we encourage them to register their company. 

The competition is organised by EIT Food, EIT Health, EIT RawMaterials, EIT InnoEnergy, EIT Manufactoring, EIT Urban Mobility and EIT Digital.

For Whom?

Are you part of a scientific project team, innovator, scientist, PHD student or master’s student with a product or service idea to disrupt the existing markets in healthcare, agri-food, raw materials, energy, urban mobility or manufacturing sectors? Do you want to bring your idea out of the lab to the market? Then EIT Jumpstarter is ideal for you.

Eligible countries for the Jumpstarter programme: Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Romania, Albania, Armenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Faroe Islands, Republic of North Macedonia, Georgia, Moldova, Montenegro, Serbia, Turkey, Ukraine and Kosovo (only individuals are accepted to participate in the program from Kosovo).

Sales Booster

Sales Booster is a custom-made programme of EIT Food that helps innovative startups explore and enter new agrifood markets in Europe.  

We support startups with training, coaching, expert advice, and network to prepare for their development and growth in new markets. The programme offers highly customized support to innovative startups serving their needs on an individual basis. 

For Whom?

Sales Booster is designed for the two types of innovative startups: 

  • agrifood startups with impactful solutions in one of EIT Food’s focus areas and 
  • startups from other sectors with solutions that can be applied in the agrifood industry.

Why?

  • Build an internationalisation/expansion action plan to boost your sales

Create a robust plan to support your expansion outside your home market. Analyse your options with the help of a personal growth advisor and experts from the EIT Food network.

  • Explore new markets in Europe and forge partnerships for future growth

FEMALE ENTERPRENURS

For female entrepreneurs from the region we have a programme called EWA (Empowering Women in Agriculture) that offers training, mentoring, business coaching and networking opportunities in the agrifood sector. Each year a different group of countries take part, so check the blow website for this information.
