For Financial Institutions / Policy Makers - Resilient Agriculture

Investing in Resilient & Regenerative Agriculture

Resilient agriculture is essential to address climate risks, ensure food security and support long-term economic stability. It contributes to sustainable growth, competitiveness and risk mitigation across the agri-food system, while supporting the transition towards more sustainable and climate-resilient production models in Europe and beyond. Regenerative Agriculture is the way to achieve it.

Our role in supporting decision-making

Make confident decisions grounded in real-world evidence. EIT Food connects applied research, innovation and field implementation to help policy leaders and financial institutions reduce uncertainty and design effective strategies for resilient agriculture. By bridging science, markets and public priorities, we transform data into actionable insights that support smarter investments and policy frameworks.

Through initiatives such as Test Farms and regional Landscapes (see below), we generate robust, field-based evidence from pilots, continuous monitoring and real farming environments. This enables transparent assessment of performance, scalability and impact — strengthening trust and enabling informed decisions that drive long-term agricultural resilience.

Visit, in this webpage, our initiatives, partnership options and check how to engage, below.

Financial instruments and investment relevance

Our Resilient agriculture initiatives contribute to risk reduction, increased predictability and improved investment readiness. They support the development and application of financial instruments, blended finance approaches and de-risking mechanisms, while aligning with sustainability objectives and ESG-related considerations.

Activities are aligned with European and international policy priorities related to sustainability, climate adaptation, innovation and food system resilience (EU Green Deal, CAP, Climate Adaptation Goals). The focus of our initiative and programs are on scalable and replicable approaches that can inform policy frameworks, support regulatory coherence and contribute to long-term system transformation.

Programmes and initiatives

Discover below key initiatives that generate real-world evidence, reduce investment uncertainty, and support informed policy and financing decisions for resilient agriculture.

All Resilient Agriculture initiatives from EIT Food can be explored through our Project Index and Open Calls webpages. Together, they provide practical insights, implementation experience and robust evidence to inform policy development and guide strategic investment planning.

Financial institutions and policy makers can engage through structured collaboration, knowledge exchange and partnership opportunities. By participating, they can co-create solutions, align public and private priorities, and strengthen the collective capacity needed to scale resilient agricultural systems across Europe.

Landscapes

EIT Food Landscapes are regional innovation ecosystems that connect stakeholders across the food system to collaborate on sustainability, entrepreneurship, and skills development. They act as local hubs that bring together industry, academia, startups, and public actors to accelerate the transformation toward more resilient and sustainable food systems.

Test Farms

Test Farms connects innovative agritech startups with farmers to test and validate new solutions in real-world agricultural conditions. It helps accelerate the adoption of practical innovations while reducing risks for both entrepreneurs and farmers.

Regenerative Innovation Portfolio

Together with Foodvalley NL and the Food Innovation Hub Europe, it developed the Regenerative Innovation Portfolio to support implementation at scale.

Lilas4Soils

Lilas4Soils accelerates the transition to regenerative agriculture through the use of soil data and digital monitoring. By integrating information on soil health, biodiversity, and resource use, the initiative helps farmers and stakeholders to make more sustainable decisions, reduce operational risks, and increase the resilience of their production systems.

Tech4RegenAg

Tech4RegenAg accelerates the adoption of regenerative agriculture by combining data-driven insights, pilots, education and innovation  contributing to building a resilient, sustainable and scalable European agricultural ecosystem.

Think & Do Tank

To further enable collaboration, EIT Food launched the Think & Do Tank in September 2025 — a pre-competitive platform bringing together over 20 agrifood organisations to identify needs, inform policy, and co-create projects for resilient agriculture.

Partnerships

Step into a collaborative ecosystem where strategy, evidence and investment converge. Through the EIT Food Partnership framework, policy leaders and financial actors can engage at different levels. Each pathway offers opportunities to influence system transformation, align investments with sustainability goals, and connect with a trusted Europe-wide network driving resilient food systems forward.

Strategic Partnership

Help shape the future of resilient and regenerative food systems. As a Strategic Partner of EIT Food, your organisation can influence agendas, inform policy dialogue, and guide the direction of large-scale agricultural transformation.

Delivery Partnership

Turn ideas into real-world impact. As a Delivery Partner, collaborate on projects and programmes that test solutions in the field, scale innovation, and drive measurable progress in resilient agriculture.

Community Membership

Join a dynamic network advancing resilient agriculture across Europe. As a Community Member, connect with partners, exchange knowledge, and support collective action for system-wide change.
