Mealprot (Bulgaria)
Mealprot is a low emission, circular farm that raises Mealworms – approved eatable insects. Our work is to rear and process the larvae, from which we are developing products for Feed, Food and Agri sectors. Our mission is to recycle and reuse agricultural by-products to produce organic fertilizers and insecticide for the argi sector. Mеalprot's organic insecticide contains fully approved ingredients according to Regulation (EU) 2021/1165, suitable for organic farming. Its effect is due to a combination of enzymes and microorganisms that trigger an immune response in the plant to protect against insects. Plants thicken their cell walls and begin to produce an enzyme that neutralizes these insects that feed on it. When placed in the soil, it also has an antiparasitic effect, reduces nematode populations and harmful fungal diseases. The use of Mеalprot's insecticide is harmless to beneficial insects such as bees, ladybugs, etc. Since the product is organic, it has no quarantine period, does not harm biodiversity and does not leave harmful chemicals in fruits and vegetables.

The gas can be converted into methane by feeding it to a biogas process or be used as feedstock for methanol production. There are many technologies for production of biochar and heat, we also produce clean syngas. This offers more value than the solutions that currently are on the market. We can offer carbon negative clean syngas production thanks to our new approach to gasification and biochar production!
