Türkiye launches its largest EWA cohort to date with support from Anadolu Efes
The Empowering Women in Agrifood (EWA) programme has officially launched its 2025 edition in Türkiye. Organised by EIT Food and implemented by Impact Hub Istanbul through its Foodback platform, this year’s programme supports 15 early-stage women entrepreneurs working to transform the agrifood system. For the first time, the programme is supported by corporate sponsor Anadolu Efes, enabling an expanded cohort and new learning opportunities.
The 2025 edition of the EWA programme in Türkiye has brought together 15 women entrepreneurs developing innovative solutions for a fairer, healthier and more sustainable food system. Over the next six months, they will take part in a structured programme that includes personalised mentoring, training sessions and community-building activities.
The Empowering Women in Agrifood programme is an initiative of EIT Food, and is implemented in Türkiye by Impact Hub Istanbul through Foodback, its platform dedicated to collaboration and innovation in the agrifood sector. Since 2018, Foodback has served as the EIT Food Hub for Türkiye, fostering connections between entrepreneurs, institutions and universities.
To mark the start of the programme, an online kick-off event was held bringing together mentees, mentors and partners. The session opened with welcoming remarks from Ayşe Sabuncu, Co-Founder of Impact Hub Istanbul, and Şeyma Merve Gürses, Entrepreneurship and Innovation Manager at Anadolu Efes. Attendees also heard from EWA experts Melih Boyacı, Arda Berkay Çağın and Erman Turan, who introduced the programme's goals and framework.
Two alumni from the 2024 cohort, İpek Tüysüzoğlu and Saadet Alpagtaş, shared their experiences and advice with the new participants. Each of the 2025 mentees also introduced their projects, giving mentors and peers a first look at the innovative ideas that will shape this year’s edition.
Backed by Anadolu Efes: A stronger EWA Türkiye
This year marks a major milestone for the programme in Türkiye, thanks to the support of Anadolu Efes, which joins EWA as a national sponsor. Their contribution has made it possible to increase the number of participants from 10 to 15, expand access to training, and strengthen the mentoring journey. As one of the country’s leading food and beverage companies, Anadolu Efes brings valuable expertise, networks and visibility to the programme.
Fifteen women-led startups tackling key challenges in agrifood

What’s next
The cohort will now move into the core phase of the EWA programme, which combines one-on-one mentoring with business training and expert sessions. The initiative will culminate in a Demo Day where participants will pitch their projects to a panel of experts. The two most promising ventures will receive €10,000 and €5,000 to accelerate their growth.
Beyond the selected mentees, the 2025 edition in Türkiye also offers new learning modules for non-selected applicants, thanks to the support of Anadolu Efes. This effort reflects the broader mission of EIT Food and its partners to expand access to entrepreneurial knowledge and foster inclusive innovation in agrifood.
