In a innovative initiative, researchers from the CEU Alimentación y Sociedad Institute at CEU San Pablo University, EIT Food South Delivery Partner, have developed and launched Tabula®.

Tabula® is a new Database of Composition for Processed Foods and Drinks available in the Spanish market. This groundbreaking tool leverages updated nutritional information sourced from product labeling, reflecting recent dietary reformulations.

This tool meticulously catalogues the nutritional composition of approximately 6,500 representative food and drink items, constituting around 80% of the current Spanish market. Accessible through open format post-registration, the database adopts the classification system employed in the World Health Organization's (WHO) Nutrient Profile Model for the European Region 2023. Additionally, it aligns with the classification system of the European Food Information Network (EuroFIR).

This resource, facilitates the retrieval of nutritional information for each product based on Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011. It provides details such as legal nomenclature, ingredient listings, allergen information, mandatory nutritional declarations, and voluntary nutritional information.

Moreover, it includes nutritional statements related to total fats, saturated fats, sugars, and salt, aligning with Regulation (EC) No 1924/2006 concerning nutritional and health claims on food products. Notably, CEU San Pablo University stands out as a proud partner of EIT Food, further underlining its commitment to advancements in the field of nutrition and food science.
