Eroski Collaborates in a European Project co-funded by EIT Food

The RIS Straight 2 Market (S2M) project is for the development of more sustainable food

The project has the participation of consumers through workshops to test the new recipe before its commercialization

EROSKI participates in the European agrifood innovation project RIS Straight to Market (RIS S2M) with the aim of helping local small and medium-sized enterprises, new companies and expanding companies to bring new food products to the main markets or Highly improved from a nutritional or sustainable point of view.

It is an initiative co-financed by EIT Food, with the support of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), an agency of the European Union. EIT Food is Europe's leading food innovation initiative, working to make the food system more sustainable, healthy and reliable.

EROSKI collaborates in this initiative together with the Basque company Jakion that is dedicated to the production of natural andinnovative preserves of high nutritional quality, transforming fruits and vegetables in an artisan wayfor new consumers.

The project developed by both companies, which will last for the next 8 months, will consist of the development of a new tomato/bolognese sauce without added sugars, without thickeners, with a reduced fat content and a minimum salt content, which will contribute to the improvement in the nutritional and health status of the consumer.

In order to know the opinion of consumers about the new product, EROSKI has organized several meetings in recent weeks.

Participants contributed to fine-tuning the sauce recipe through creative activities and knowledge sharing, as well as new fresh food concepts for families with children.

The project also promotes the future marketing of the final recipe for this new healthy and sustainable sauce through EROSKI's commercial network in the Basque Country, Cantabria and Navarra.
