EWA Masterclass 2025 in Ukraine: Mastering the Investor Pitch
Ten participants of the Empowering Women in Agrifood (EWA) programme gathered for the Masterclass event, where they built valuable connections, discovered the latest in food innovation at MHP’s culinary center, and deepened their knowledge of business planning and pitch delivery.
On July 11, ten dynamic Ukrainian women entrepreneurs gathered for an in-person Masterclass, as part of the EIT Food’s Empowering Women in Agrifood (EWA) business support programme, implemented in Ukraine by the Radar Tech in partnership with EIT Food.
The Masterclass event marked the second offline meeting of the EWA programme. Participants were introduced to core business principles, learned how to apply the Lean Canvas model to their own ideas, and received step-by-step insights into creating structured, impactful business plans.
Empowering Entrepreneurs: Highlights from the EWA Masterclass in Ukraine
The day opened with a visit to MHP's Culinary Centre — an innovative hub where culinary processes are enhanced through Ready to Cook (RtC) and Ready to Eat (RtE) concepts. Participants had the chance to engage with the centre's experts, learning about both production and business operations. They explored the full lifecycle of test concepts — from idea generation and dish preparation to industrial-scale implementation and internal training sessions. The tour included a visit to the demo kitchen, development kitchens, and the sensory lab, where products are evaluated through blind tastings. In addition, participants had the opportunity to see MHP’s production facilities firsthand and gain a deeper understanding of how processes are structured within a large-scale agrifood business.
Following the tour, participants were welcomed by America House Kyiv, where they took part in a practical training session on building business models using the Lean Canvas framework. They also learned how to craft effective business pitches and capture an investor’s attention in just two seconds — including guidance on choosing the right fonts, color combinations, and visual elements to make their presentations clear and compelling.
The session was led by two of the programme’s mentors and industry experts: Oleksandr Shlieienkov, IT, Tech & Innovation Manager at IREX, and Mariia Romanova, CEO of Radar Tech, innovation expert, and startup mentor. Each participant had the opportunity to work on her own business model and received personalized guidance and feedback from the mentors.
Empowering Agrifood Innovation: What’s Next for EWA Ukraine 2025
Looking ahead, participants will focus on researching their target audiences, developing income and expense projections, conducting SWOT analyses, and more. The programme will culminate in Demo Day, where each participant will present a polished pitch of her solution.
The EWA programme marks an important step in empowering women entrepreneurs in Ukraine’s agricultural sector. By fostering innovation and supporting business development, it contributes to both economic growth and a more sustainable future for agriculture. Running from June to November 2025, the programme includes three offline events and will culminate in a final Demo Day in November. The most promising projects will be eligible for grants of €5,000 and €10,000 to support the further development of their businesses.
