The University of Agriculture in Krakow (UAK) is a public academic and research institution specialising in agricultural, food, environmental, and life sciences. With over 70 years of tradition and approximately 7,000 students enrolled annually, UAK plays a pivotal role in advancing sustainable food systems and rural development in Poland and Central and Eastern Europe.


UAK provides a wide range of services and products, including:

  • Research and innovation in sustainable agriculture, food processing, biotechnology, environmental engineering, and bioeconomy.
  • Educational programs at undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels across disciplines such as food technology, agronomy, horticulture, forestry, animal science, and agricultural economics.
  • Technology transfer and expert consulting for agribusinesses, cooperatives, and public institutions.
  • Training and lifelong learning for professionals and rural communities.
  • Support for entrepreneurship and innovation through startup incubation, pilot-scale facilities, and regional development projects.

UAK’s research focus includes food quality and safety, precision agriculture, climate-smart farming, circular bioeconomy, biodiversity, water management, and consumer behaviour. The university is actively involved in EU-funded initiatives, including Horizon Europe, Erasmus+, Interreg, and the European Innovation Partnership (EIP-AGRI).

While based in Poland, UAK’s impact and collaborations extend across Europe, with strong academic and industrial partnerships in Germany, France, Italy, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, and other EU and RIS countries. The university is committed to knowledge exchange, capacity building, and co-creation of innovation in the global agri-food ecosystem.
