The mission of the Austrian Competence Centre for Feed and Food Quality, Safety & Innovation (FFoQSI) is to improve the safety and quality of feed and food production by a value chain integration approach. Strategically, FFoQSI aims to advance and foster the development and implementation of technical approaches for the sake of mainly small and medium-sized enterprises. 

The aim will be reached through close collaboration of scientific and company partners. Leading Austrian research institutions match with the know-how of more than 35 innovative national and international enterprises that show high affinity to research. 

Competences & Capabilities

FFoQSI’s research activities are structured into three areas: 

  • Plant-derived feed and food 
  • Animal-derived food 
  • A strategic research area encompassing mainly methodological advancements. 

The competencies are centred along four technical approaches: 

  • Microbiome research related innovations 
  • Novel chemo-analytical platforms 
  • Performance enhancers in farming systems 
  • Food producing systems. 

Strategic research for the development of advanced technologies is focused on basic research to improve monitoring and surveillance of hygiene, quality and authenticity along food value chains.
