Regenerative Innovation Portfolio: Navarra 360º

Navarra 360º is a pioneering project in Europe that seeks to promote Regenerative Agriculture in Navarra (Spain), validating agricultural practices, at a territorial level, as a European benchmark in the transition towards a new agriculture.

2024
2027

Navarra 360º is EIT Food's first Landscape project, part of the Regenerative Innovation Portfolio. It will combine financial support with training in technical aspects of regenerative practices. Farmers participating in the project will receive individual support from agronomy experts to design and complete a Transition Plan over three years, the purchase of the product by the project's partner companies, including the payment of a premium, and strong monitoring and verification of results are some of the pillars of the project.

Project overview

The investment

The project will devote €2.5 million over three years (2024-2027) to support 80 farmers in Navarra to implement regenerative agriculture in their crop rotation systems, focusing on wheat, barley, oats, rapeseed and sunflower.

The objectives

A 20% reduction in the use of phytosanitary products, a 40% reduction in mineral fertilisation and a 30% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.

The promoters

Navarra 360º is promoted and co-financed by Alpro, Cargill, Danone Ecosystems, Intermalta and EIT Food. It is also supported by a relevant set of local partners, such as cooperatives, financial institutions and local government representatives.

The Indicators

Navarra 360º works from a holistic perspective, looking at more than 60 key indicators including soil health, biodiversity, water use, carbon footprint, as well as social and economic indicators.

What will the farmers get

  • Access to an individualised advisory programme by a team of expert agronomists, from the planning of the Transition Plan to Regenerative Agriculture, with progress reports from the advisor on progress and areas for improvement.
