The most promising early-stage ventures in the Hungarian agrifood sector were chosen during the country final of RIS Innovation Prizes competition that took place on July 15.

In the Hungarian final, 8 innovative agrifoood companies competed for the three jury prizes of €5,000, €3,000 and €1,000 and for the Audience Prize of €2,000. The jury comprised of food and business experts awarded the startups that have the biggest potential to transform our agriculture and food system making it healthier, more sustainable and more trusted.

Here are the winners of the Hungarian Demo Day final:

1st Prize - SMAPP LAB

The SMAPP LAB team develops a digitised trap family, which monitors pest insects and predicts effectively several pest control points. The methods used nowadays do not allow farmers to guard efficiently against these pests. In addition, due to climate change, the life cycles of different pests are changing, which cannot be traced without real-time data collection.

2nd Prize - Green Drops Farm

Our innovative hydroponic equipment enables more efficient crop production compared to traditional agriculture. Our goal is to provide humanity with vegetables in a sustainable way by being able to produce them locally with our equipment, thus reducing atmospheric pollution caused by transportation, and allowing our customers to consume fresh and nutrient-rich plants every day.

3rd Prize - SpaceCrop

SpaceCrop is an agritech that forecasts soil water requirement in farming and sends an irrigation schedule to farmers using deep learning (machine learning). SpaceCrop's technology to forecast soil water requirement in farming uses sensors and satellite images to capture and analyze data from the ground. Our target forecasting lead take within 5-7 days.

SMAPP LAB also receiced the biggest number of votes from the Demo Day viewers and was awarded with the Audience Prize of €2,000.
