10 women entrepreneurs were accepted in the second edition of EWA programme in Romania

43 entrepreneurs signed up for the second edition of the Empowering Women in Agrifood (EWA) program to develop business ideas in the agri-food sector.

The programme developed by EIT Food and implemented by Impact Hub Bucharest for the second consecutive year, offers the 10 participants personalized mentoring, networking sessions, connections and access to an international digital platform with the possibility of receiving funding of up to 10,000 euros.

The 10 entrepreneurs selected in the programme are:

Ana-Maria Ilie - Jun Tea – Fermented drinks based on green tea and unprocessed honey that offer the consumer benefits for the immune and digestive system, also supporting local producers.

Annamaria Kiss – Urban edible landscaping services, dedicated to gardening enthusiasts of all ages working in urban areas and followers of a healthy and sustainable lifestyle.

Cristiana Necula – Premium package products containing various varieties of cereals, oilseeds and legumes for grains from sustainable regenerative agriculture.

Eugenia Ana Bucur – Biscuits with hypoglycemic action that contribute to improving the health of people diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, metabolic syndrome or obesity.

Eva Csutak – Foodwellness food range: products without additives from the dessert area, BioFood-products from organic raw materials, personalized products for people with various intolerances or diseases.

Ioana Verebi – Solution for monitoring the health of vine crops by using a digital system based on the observation of the vineyards by drones and specific and targeted intervention on diseased plants.

Ioana Miruna Toanchina – Production of cakes and raw-vegan sweets prepared according to recipes adapted to various diseases such as diabetes, delivered directly to the consumer.

Raluca Sorina Hladiuc – Mobile gardening application that aims to educate the urban population especially about small-scale organic farming, but also in cultivating a garden as a hobby, even in confined spaces.

Raluca Oancea – Blueberries grown in a specialized farm with a short distribution chain, from the plantation directly to the consumer.Stefania Filip - Products such as jams and natural juices obtained through cold pressing methods without added sugar, preservatives or chemical additives, using fruit from the proximity of the production area

During the programme, the entrepreneurs will work with 10 mentors ready to offer them the best advice for developing ideas and a business plan.

The 10 mentors in the programme are:

6. Mihai Mihu – Project Coordinator, Asociatia Crestem Romania

7. Ștefania Cristescu – Marketing and Communication Director, Patria Bank

8. Stelian Burduhos – Founder, HORECA LAND ROMANIA

9. Dana Lupșa-Tătaru – Founder, Brand Alchemist

10. Lucia Radu – Project Manager, Impact Hub Bucharest

Entrepreneurs and mentors met during the online Matchmaking event on July 5 and 9. During the event, the entrepreneurs and mentors gave a pitch about what they do to get to know each other better. They also discussed in small groups on specific topics and needs so that the match between mentor and mentee to be as accurate as possible.

The event ended with enthusiasm, the desire to collaborate and connect within the international platform dedicated to the program and with the matching of mentor-mentee pairs.

Entrepreneurs will participate in other main events that will take place during the second half of the year, from July to December 2020:

Financial education workshop – August

Masterclass-training and preparation event and open event with guests from the agri-food field – September

Business webinar – October

Pitching and networking event – end of November

Participants will have the opportunity to earn up to EUR 10,000, to discover other EIT Food programmes, as well as access to investors, business angels and cooperatives, which will help them take their business to the next level.

Empowering Women in Agrifood (EWA) is a programme developed by EIT Food for a total of 80 women entrepreneurs from 8 European countries (Lithuania, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Bulgaria, Greece, Poland and Turkey) and is implemented in Romania by Impact Hub Bucharest.
