Four schools in Spain win "Los Salvacomidas" competition with ideas for healthier nutrition
This initiative, organized for the first time by the European organization EIT Food, has had the participation of more than 1,500 young people from five autonomous communities: Andalusia, Galicia, Castilla y León, Madrid and the Basque Country.
During this course, students from more than 50 educational centers have starred in their own learning process in terms of healthy habits, sustainable eating and entrepreneurial spirit.
For this first edition, more than 1,500 young people between 6 and 16 years old from five autonomous communities have participated in "Los Salvacomidas" contest. In total, 558 teachers have enrolled 76 groups of schoolchildren spread over 20 provinces of 5 different autonomous communities: Andalusia, Galicia, Castilla y León, Madrid and the Basque Country.
What have our 4 winning schools created?
The winner of first grade of Primary has been the Gloria Fuertes school in Córdoba, which has carried out a work entitled 'Tierra y Mar'. The jury has valued the presentation of the dish and its elaboration, by children who demonstrate healthy eating habits and awareness with the care of the planet.
The students of Esclavas del Sagrado Corazón of Salamanca (4th year), has competed under the name of "RealEaters" designing and elaborating with products from the school garden what it has called a 'Healthy Menu', which according to themselves point out, "has helped us to learn more to have a healthier behavior in the diet".
In Vitoria, two different schools have been awarded.
- Escolapios-Calasanz, in the third cycle of Primary, has presented a work entitled 'Courgette Spaghetti', starting from pasta (the favorite food of most of the students of the course) to make "healthy spaghetti". For this they used vegetables from the school garden.
- And Mercedarias de Vitoria, the students of 3rd year of ESO have devised an APP called 'ENVIRO-FOOD', to promote local local commerce accompanied by a conscious and sustainable consumption with the environment.
