EIT JumpStarter Winners 2019
The winners of EIT JumpStarter 2019 have been announced. Cross sectoral program for early-stage startups and idea holders, which this year was awarded the Best European Association Training Initiative title, had its Grand Finals on 14 November 2019, in Riga, Latvia during Digital Freedom Festival. 2BNanoFood, RapidPricer B.V. and Fiberbio were found the best food entrepreneurial teams in this competition.
This year's edition gathered 90 teams from 13 European countries selected by EIT Food, EIT Health and EIT RawMaterials. After six business-planning bootcamps organised during the spring and further mentoring sessions and business skills trainings during the autumn, the six best teams in each category were selected to pitch at the Join Grand Finals and compete for cash prizes with a total amount of EUR 70 000.
The winners in the Food category:
- 1st prize - 2BNanoFood, who will produce and commercialise custom-made solutions based on bio-based and biodegradable materials, aiming to replace synthetic materials in foods while maintaining their quality and safety;
- 2nd prize - RapidPricer B.V. team, which works on the solution that helps retailers to increase margins and reduce waste by automating pricing and promotions in real-time, unlike traditional consulting solutions;
- 3d prize - Fiberbio, whose fibre-rich products are made of upcycled fruit, vegetable and seed pomace which is presently discarded during juice and oil production.
Among other finalist were: Baltic Freya (awarded with special prize for Best Cross-thematic Business Idea), Odd.Bot (which won Audience Award) and TastyHour. Read more about the best ideas from this year edition here.
