Future of Food workshops with Glasgow Science Centre

Sat, October 14, 2023
until Sun, October 22, 2023
Glasgow Science Centre (Science Centre, 50 Pacific Quay, Glasgow G51 1EA, UK)

Join us at Glasgow Science Centre, where we will host workshops on the topic of healthy and sustainable food production.

About the workshops

In collaboration with Glasgow Science Centre, we are hosting a workshop series all about the future of food. These workshops will focus on educating families and young people about all thing's food science. After a successful experience hosting these workshops last year, we are back again in October 2023, and we will be running the workshops between the 14th-22nd October.

On the science centre floor, we will have a “meet the expert” zone to encourage children to consider a future career in the agrifood industry. With numerous career opportunities in agrifood and the future of our food system in the younger generation's hands, our workshops are a first step to engage them in the value of food.

We will also be hosting closed workshops for schools and social groups in the local community around Glasgow. If you would like to find out more, please contact Laura Elphick at laura.elphick@eitfood.eu

Who is involved?

Each of our partners and startups attending the event will be hosting their own activities to inspire children about healthy and sustainable food production. Children will be able to ask questions and gain knowledge whilst having fun!

The following 3 organisations will be attending the event and holding their own activities as part of our “Meet the expert” zone.

  1. SAMS:  The Scottish Assocation for Marine Science will be hosting an activity all about seaweed. They will educate children about edible and farmed seaweeds, to raise awareness of using seaweed as a food source and feed ingredient. Children will be able to learn about the seaweed life cycle and handle live seaweed, as a sensory learning experience.

  1. Crover Tech: A startup tech company who have invented a unique robotic grain storage solution to provide a new way to improve and automate monitoring and management activities. Crover are on a mission to help graine storage operations reduce losses and maintain optimum storage conditions.

  1. Aquaponics Iberia: A aquaponics provider and expert company changing the way food is grown and developed through efficient aquaponics. Aquaponics Iberia have their own developed technology focused on food production for a more sustainable method of crop farming and generating highly quality fish and greens.
