ABOUT

The human microbiome is everywhere. A trending topic in the news, health and wellness social media, and in your doctor’s office, not only is everyone talking about it, but it is also inside all of us. The human microbiota is a vast collection of 10 to 100 trillion symbiotic microbial cells that reside within every individual. This community of bacteria, viruses and fungi plays a crucial role in human physiology, health, and disease.

Professor Luca Cocolin and Researcher Marta Oliveres spend their lives studying how microbiota affects our bodies. On 30 November, Luca and Marta will lead a live webinar introducing you to the online course they created in conjunction with EIT Food, The Human Microbiome. This is your opportunity to discover more about the online course and how the course can help you learn more about your microbiome.

The live webinar event will introduce the 3-week online course and its learning outcomes. By the end of the 45 minute webinar, you will begin to understand the link between the human microbiome and your health, and you will know exactly how to enroll in the online course. By continuing the learning journey with the online course, you will dive deeper into the role of food in microbiome modulation and how the human microbiome changes throughout the human lifespan.

Want to know more? This is your chance to talk to the experts. Luca and Marta want to hear your questions about how this course can help you on your journey to know more about microbiota and your body.

Our course has been designed for anyone with an interest in the subjects related to the human microbiome, how food can influence it, and how this impacts human health. The Human Microbiome is a collaboration between the University of Torino, EIT Food and the European Institute of Innovation and Technology, with content provided by the University of Reading, Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC), Microbion and Quadram Bioscience Institute.

The Human Microbiome is available on edX all year round and is free to join. It is composed of 12 hours of learning broken down in 3 weeks, for a commitment of 4 hours of learning per week. Participants can study at any time, on any device.

We are glad you decided to join us at the live event to learn more about our online course, and we look forward to hearing your questions and comments about The Human Microbiome.
