Take Root Bio is an urban regeneration organisation, working with communities to redevelop derelict buildings, sites and locations are brought back to life to create TRB Connected Farms, using the TRB AgriFood EcoSystem – a net zero, sustainable approach to food production. We use 'appropriate' existing technologies (all commercially viable and available) site them with a data centre, enabling heat transfer to growing zones to support the agrifood ecosystem.

At TRB, we say we grow food, jobs and communities in the industrial heritage of the past. For us, this is more than just about transforming old buildings; it is about creating sustainable livelihoods and changing the fundamental local economics one location at a time. We have therefore developed three products to support on this:

  1. TRB Connected containers, for humanitarian, harsh climates and ‘urban gorilla growing’
  2. TRB Connected Urban Farms – for derelict urban buildings
  3. TRB Connected Industrial Farms – for derelict industrial sites

At TRB, our research has included understanding what is required for living in a modern society, food, data, energy, local jobs and skills and community. With our team of architectural designers, economists, finance and project managers and technologists, we find solutions to make communities successful based on the 15 minute city principles.

We are part of the Net Zero Cities Partnerships, Net Zero Industry Innovation Centre among and IBioIC. As a start up, we are looking to grow our network and find like-minded partners and academics to help us grow our
ideas and build our vision of food production in the heart of cities and industrial estates, freeing up land for biodiversity and global change.
