Bio Base Europe Pilot Plant

Bio Base Europe Pilot Plant is an independent scale-up facility located in Ghent, Belgium, specialised in process development, scale-up, and custom manufacturing of biobased products and processes. Operating at scales ranging from laboratory to multi-ton, we are able to convert renewable feedstocks into food/feed ingredients, biochemicals, biomaterials, biofuels, and other bioproducts. We have equipment and expertise for the following technologies: biomass pretreatment, biocatalysis, fermentation, gas fermentation, green chemistry, cell culture, and downstream purification. Since our establishment in 2008, we have conducted over 700 projects collaborating with small, medium, and large companies from across Europe and beyond, as well as participating in numerous European consortium-based initiatives.
