Consumer perceptions of (alternative) proteins

How do European consumers perceive the role of protein in their diet, and what is the potential of insect-based, plant-based, and cultivated protein alternatives?

The European Commission’s Farm to Fork Strategy has identified sustainable proteins as key to the transition to a sustainable food system, and EIT Food supports manufacturers that aim to produce delicious, safe, healthy and sustainable protein alternatives. In order to get these proteins onto consumer’s plates, we need to understand what people want, believe, and feel about these proteins.
