Seed Embedding Technology for open field vegetable cultivation (vSET)

Scalable and cost-effective technology to transition regenerative agriculture

2025
2026

The main challenge in regenerative agriculture is adopting sustainable practices, in a cost-effective and scalable manner. The innovative and affordable vSET technology will help EU farmers overcome this challenge and adopt regenerative vegetable farming effectively.

Studies show that regenerative fields are more resilient to extreme weather and have lower disease, pest, and weed pressure, reducing the need for excess usage of agrochemicals. S&dB’s innovative vSET cultivation method is a bio-based, biodegradable seed treatment concept that protects crops against biotic and abiotic stresses. The system has two main elements which allow precise seed placement in no-tilled and green covered soils; the vSET tapes will be planted with a specially designed Seed Tape Planting Tool.

Our partners in this EIT Food project see vSET as a crucial and enabling technology for the global agricultural transformation and together we will further develop and validate the potential of the proprietary vSET technology.
