Challenge Labs CEE - trends in agrifood 2022

Find out what were the main trends and challenges of the agrifood industry in Central and Eastern Europe that were the topic of Challenge Labs CEE edition in 2022.

In this report, we have summarized trends and challenges of the agrifood industry in Central and Eastern Europe, classifying them into six EIT Food focus areas:

  1. Protein Diversification
  2. Targeted Nutrition
  3. Digital Traceability
  4. Sustainable Agriculture
  5. Circular Food Systems
  6. Sustainable Aquaculture

Trends and challenges described in the report have been identified on the basis of interviews with over 20 industry experts (from companies and organisations such as: Coca-Cola - sponsor of the Challenge Labs, Givaudan, Danone, Żabka, Lubella, Well-Well Group, Hochland, foodforward.vc, foodftech.ac and more) and confronted with data from research and other industry reports. In order to inspire the reader at the end of each chapter we included a list of start-ups that provide innovative solutions that support the aforementioned areas related to the agrifood industry.

There is also a note on how design thinking can be implied in the agrifood industry. We are happy to present the best ideas designed during the Challenge Labs CEE.
