“Women for climate” workshop, held in Poland, gathered women farmers working for the environment and the climate

The goal of the “Women for climate” project is to strengthen the potential of women working for the environment, biodiversity and climate through sustainable agriculture. These activities need much more attention, recognition, support and dissemination. Women all over the world, including Poland, face a number of barriers to their actions.

On 14 December, the Institute of Public Affairs (IPA) in Warsaw hosted fantastic women farmers: participants of the second edition of the 'Women for Climate' project implemented by the IPA together with the EIT Food CLC North-East and the Heinrich-Böll-Foundation Warsaw Office.

The meeting was a summary of the activities conducted in the project. These consisted

of identifying and describing examples of the involvement of 10 women in the protection of biodiversity and the climate through actions for sustainable agriculture and shortening supply chains. They are organic farmers, fruit growers, animal breeders, food producers - juices, cheese, bread from all regions of Poland, of different ages, some from farming families, most with non-agricultural education and professional experience.

These are 10 stories that show the power and energy of women to make a change and work for a better future. They show that there is an alternative to industrial agriculture. It is possible to produce high-quality, local food in an environmentally and climate-friendly manner.

The all-day meeting provided an opportunity for the project participants to get to know each other and to share their experiences of the activities they carry out on a daily basis. The "Women for Climate '' Inspirator (kobietydlaklimatu.pl) was also presented, featuring the profiles and stories of the women participating in the project.

The women, who participated in the project took part in a workshop focusing on the topic of successful communication, which is undoubtedly an important skill in their work. It helps build recognition, develop potential, seek new markets and allies. By attending the workshop they learned how to talk about themselves. How to tell their story to others. How to build a narrative, to present what they do, what is important to them. The intention of the workshop was to draw the participants' attention to the tradition of storytelling, of building narratives around actions taken in local communities, in public. With courage, awareness and self-appreciation.

At the end of the meeting, each of the project partners talked about their activities and possible cooperation with the project participants.
