17 October 2019 News, Innovation, Connected food system On 15 October, two of EIT Food’s nominees were recognised at the 2019 EIT Awards in Budapest at the annual INNOVEIT ceremony.

INNOVEIT promotes innovation and encourages entrepreneurs by putting the most innovative ventures, entrepreneurial graduates, innovation teams and women from the EIT Community in the spotlight. The Awards celebrate the role models making innovation happen.

Congratulations to the Winners

From EIT Food we would like to congratulate Rudolf Sollacher from Siemens and his cross-industry team for taking second place in the EIT Innovators Award for their Digital Twin Management project. This award recognises teams from across EIT’s Innovation Communities that develop high-impact products and services for a sustainable future. Rudolf and his team have won a cash prize of EUR
20 000 as a placed winner for this award.

Rudolf Sollacher is a Senior Research Scientist from Siemens. The Digital Twin Management System wants to make food production more transparent and more sustainable by giving an overview in the production and logistic processes. Consumers can gain more insights into the content and production of a food product.

From EIT Food we would also like to congratulate Lynette Kucsma from Natural Machines for taking third place in the EIT Public Award for her startup’s Foodini 3D food printer. This award is a recognition from the public of overall excellence and is awarded to one of the Nominees from the other Award categories. Here, Lynette was originally nominated for the EIT Woman Award.

Lynette Kucsma is the Co-Founder and Chief Marketing Officer for Natural Machines. Natural Machines produce a full range of innovative kitchen solutions that improve the quality and enjoyment of food, enable greater control of food and drive a positive environmental impact by lessening food waste.

Natural Machine’s first released product is Foodini: a 3D food printing kitchen appliance

Now in its 5th year, the EIT Awards are helping to promote the most successful startups, innovative projects and young entrepreneurial talent in Europe, drawn exclusively from the EIT Community.

Each winner of the EIT Awards was selected for tackling global challenges with ground-breaking innovations in the fields of food, climate, energy, digitalisation, health and raw materials. Their products and services are driving Europe’s ability to innovate and creating jobs and growth across the region.

Congratulations to Rudolf Sollacher and Lynette Kucsma for being placed winners in their respective Award categories. We are proud of their successes as part of the EIT Food Community and their continued commitment to transforming the food sector.
