The consortium of Campden BRI Hungary, Maspex, KSM Vision – Innovating Under the Guidance of EIT Food
In today's competitive food industry, ensuring accurate and consistent product labeling is essential. However, current market solutions often require manual calibration and parameterization, leading to inefficiencies. The R&D project, guided by EIT Food, aims to revolutionise this process by developing a fully automated label quality inspection system.

Mission
The project aims to automate and digitize label quality inspection as part of the food industry’s green transformation, enhancing system resilience, reducing costly recalls, and maintaining consumer confidence.
Scope
The project focuses on creating an innovative system that provides 100% automated control for food product labels, particularly for jars and pouch packaging, to streamline quality control and eliminate manual intervention.
Challenge
The project addresses the significant challenges in maintaining consistent quality control across diverse product lines by introducing automation that adapts to different packaging formats, reducing errors and manual labor.
Process
The project involves developing hardware and algorithms, collecting data for defect detection models, creating auto-calibration and parameterisation algorithms, and conducting FAT tests on 50 products.
Functionalities
The system will feature auto-calibration and parameterisation algorithms, analise 2D label representations, adapt to new formats, and automatically convert settings to 3D physical products.
Consortium
A consortium of leading organisations in the food industry has been established, combining their expertise to develop and implement this innovative automated label inspection system.
