Nestlé supports EWA Italy with €5,000 prize and mentorship from top executives

Nestlé Group in Italy is making a significant contribution to the EIT Food's Empowering Women in Agrifood (EWA) programme in Italy, providing a €5,000 second prize to one of the top participants. In addition, three senior women leaders from Nestlé Group in Italy will offer valuable mentorship, sharing their expertise to foster the growth and development of women-led startups in the agrifood sector.

Nestlé Group in Italy has partnered with the Empowering Women in Agrifood (EWA) initiative, developed by EIT Food, by sponsoring the €5,000 second prize for this year’s Italian edition. This initiative aligns with Nestlé’s commitment to supporting innovation and female leadership in the agrifood sector. Alongside financial backing, three of Nestlé’s top executives will offer mentorship to the participants, providing expert guidance and fostering meaningful growth opportunities.

The mentors from Nestlé Group in Italy bring decades of expertise in food quality, innovation, and sustainability.

Alessandra Fazio

Alessandra Fazio, Head of Food Quality at Nestlé Group in Italy, has over 20 years of experience in multinational food companies. Passionate about quality and inclusion, she champions gender equality and mentors young female professionals. Since 2015, Alessandra has led Nestlé Group in Italy’s quality initiatives and currently serves as President of both the Istituto Italiano Imballaggio and Fondazione Carta Etica del Packaging.

Barbara Vita

Barbara Vita is the Head of Marketing at Nestlé Italy & Malta. With a long international career in Marketing, Commercial Development, and Digital, she currently leads a team of professionals in the areas of Media, Insights&Analytics, Consumer Experience, Marketing Excellence, Innovation Acceleration, and Nutrition Health Wellness with the aim of driving the transformation of these areas towards a more advanced marketing approach.

Marta Schiraldi

Marta Schiraldi, Head of Sustainability at Nestlé Group in Italy, has built her career in sustainability and food safety. With a strong background in sustainable packaging, she has led Nestlé Group in Italy’s initiatives to make packaging 96% recyclable. Marta is dedicated to reducing the environmental impact of the food industry, focusing on CO2 emissions and food waste reduction strategies.

This unique combination of financial support and high-level mentorship from Nestlé, alongside the implementation of EWA Italy by the Future Food Institute, will undoubtedly help shape the next generation of women leaders in Italy’s agrifood sector. As EWA continues to expand across Europe, partnerships like this play a crucial role in empowering women to succeed in traditionally male-dominated industries.
