Hub4Food Pilot Projects for Food SMEs in the Atlantic Area
Are you a food SME based in the Atlantic Area looking to innovate and grow? Hub4Food invites you to participate in an open call for pilot projects, offering a unique opportunity to collaborate with leading Research and Technology Organisations (RTOs)
Funded by the Interreg Atlantic Area programme, EIT Food is part of Hub4Food, which aims to address critical needs in the food industry through feasibility studies, exploitation, and demonstration activities tailored to company’s challenges.
Through its efforts, Hub4Food promotes the development of new and improved food products, particularly those derived from marine resources, boosting sustainability and competitiveness in the region.
Why Participate?
Pilot projects are collaborative efforts designed to help food SMEs test and implement cutting-edge technologies in partnership with Hub4Food RTOs. These projects provide valuable insights and solutions, enabling your business to:
- Extend the shelf life of seafood.
- Develop innovative food formulations with functional properties.
- Explore marine biorefineries and other advanced technologies.
- Create high-value products using marine resources.
A total of 12 pilot projects will be selected under this call, each lasting approximately 8 months and focusing on practical applications at Technology Readiness Level 6 (TRL6) or higher.
Target Food Subsectors
Pilot projects must address one or more of the following subsectors:
Primary subsectors:
- Bakery and pastry
- Marine and seafood products
- Meat products
- Milk and dairy products
Secondary subsectors:
- Prepared consumer foods
- Fruits & vegetables
- Beverages
- Olive oil
Each project is encouraged to leverage marine resources as a source for ingredients or products.
Potential Topics and Technologies
Participants may focus on a variety of innovative areas, including:
- Strategies to extend the shelf life of seafood
- Functional food formulations
- Marine biorefineries and by-product valorization
- Advanced image processing
- Fish Protein Hydrolysates (FPH) production
- Hydrocolloid extraction from seaweeds
- High-pressure technology applications
- Validation of healthy food products
