Bilbao Campus Experience Concludes Its Second Edition Strengthening the Agrifood Innovation
The second edition of the Bilbao Campus Experience (BCE) closed at the Bilbao Acceleration Tower (BAT), ending a four-week programme designed to connect international startups with the Basque agrifood innovation ecosystem.
Opening the session, Begoña Pérez Villarreal highlighted the practical and hands-on nature of the programme, reflecting the character of the Basque innovation landscape.
She noted the strong outcomes of previous editions and welcomed this year’s diverse cohort: 10 startups from 9 countries, including MiFood (Poland), Veles Sense (Serbia), Happeaz (France), Food 4 You (Argentina), Food Scales (Sweden), Apiculture 4.0 (the Netherlands), Freyia Labs (Cyprus), MycoVibes (Poland), Enthela (Bulgaria) and Tetis Biotech (Türkiye).
Over the last month, these ventures immersed themselves in the region’s agrifood ecosystem through masterclasses, one-to-one sessions with experts (, and field visits to leading organisations such as Biolan, Conservas Arroyabe, Eroski, Bodegas Eguren Ugarte, Beaz, Hazi, Neiker, Azti, Basque Food Cluster, Bermeo Tuna World Capital, and more. This experience offered a close-up view of the Basque Country’s collaborative innovation culture and its robust support structures for entrepreneurial growth.
During the closing event, Javier Medrano summarised the programme’s activities and achievements, followed by Jose Mari Montiel (BEAZ), who emphasised the importance of continued public support for innovation in Bizkaia.
The programme also featured the Startups 2025 pitch session, as well as presentations from 2024 alumni (Genky, Nannobubbles and Atfield) moderated by Amparo San José, showcasing how participation in BCE has accelerated their growth beyond the programme.
The ceremony concluded with the official diploma presentation, recognising the effort and progress of each participating team and with a networking cocktail, offering attendees the chance to connect, exchange ideas and explore new collaboration opportunities.
Although this year’s edition has now concluded, the next one is already set to build on its success, reaffirming the Basque Country as a welcoming destination for international talent and a strategic hub for scaling agrifood innovation.
