Learning, belonging, thriving: AMPLE Olsztyn empowering women through food and community

22 Dec 2025

In Olsztyn, in the heart of north-east Poland, something truly special has taken root - a project that blends food, creativity, and inspiring women to take action. The EIT Food AMPLE Olsztyn programme, delivered by the Food Bank in Olsztyn, brought together women from different backgrounds, united by a common goal - to grow, learn and regain confidence through food.

Over the past months, participants of AMPLE Olsztyn have been meeting in workshops, mentoring sessions, and community activities that combined practical learning with a sense of belonging. They explored topics from sustainable food design and entrepreneurship to communication and personal development - always in a warm and supportive atmosphere.

One of the most inspiring outcomes of the project was the creation of a community garden, built and cared for collectively by the participants. The garden became both a learning space and a symbol of what AMPLE stands for - cooperation, nurturing growth, and celebrating local resources. As vegetables and herbs grew, so did the women’s confidence and friendships.

We created this project to give women space to rediscover their strength, creativity and confidence. AMPLE in Olsztyn became more than just a learning experience - it turned into a community where women support each other, share their talents and prove that local ideas can rise and shine.

The project has shown that the power of food goes far beyond cooking. It can connect people, awaken passion, and inspire change. For many participants, it was the first time they shared their ideas publicly or saw their work appreciated by others. They gained not only knowledge but also courage - to take the next step and start acting on their own ideas.

Workshops were held both in the Food Bank’s community space and in the garden itself, where women experimented with recipes, developed food concepts and discussed how local food can become a tool for growth and community building. Mentors and trainers guided them through topics such as branding, sustainability and storytelling, helping them see that even small, local initiatives can grow into something meaningful. “Before AMPLE, I didn’t believe that my passion could be something more than a hobby,” said one participant during the final showcase. “Now I feel part of a movement that values women’s work, tradition and creativity.”

The final stage of the programme celebrated the results of their work - from homemade bread and pastries to local preserves and food-education initiatives. Each story was different, but all shared a common message: growth begins when you believe in yourself. Some participants have already started selling their products locally, while others plan to keep developing their ideas or collaborate with schools and organisations.

Beyond individual achievements, AMPLE Olsztyn left something lasting - a network of supportive, motivated women who continue to meet, collaborate and share experiences even after the official end of the project.

By bringing women together around food and through the creation of a community garden, AMPLE Olsztyn has nurtured confidence, solidarity and the belief that every local initiative matters.
