Workshop: Introduction to sustainable living

Join our workshop to find out how you can live sustainably, improve your carbon impact at home by optimising food preparation and, and reduce overall waste through learning key skills and zero waste practices.

We’ll go into specifics on how individuals and families alike can gauge current needs and assess their current practices, identify their flaws, and learn how to approach designing more sustainable living conditions by using sustainable materials or re-purposing existing materials.

Is this event for you?

This event is open to high-school students, or young people in general, who are seeking to achieve a better understanding of their environmental impact and are interested in learning about basic techniques and best practices related to sustainability, food preparation and designing a different and more environmentally conscious living approach.

In the first segment of the workshop, we will talk about EIT Food, present the key aims, activities, projects, to help raise awareness about the strategic priorities and possibilities of this organisation to a younger audience.

The workshop itself will illustrate some examples of sustainable living, and discuss personal habits regarding food preparation and examine the waste and potential for minimisation. In a series of interactive exercises, the attendees will critically examine their own food preparation habits, and work as a group to uncover potential solutions towards applying zero waste principles.

Furthermore, in the second segment of the event, these ideas will be reviewed by the lecturers who will help refine them, achieving a more concrete and actionable form that the participants might apply in their own lives, thus achieving a more direct impact.

Apart from the official programme, the workshops will include networking sessions and other opportunities for fostering ties and links between participants and lecturers, furthering the capacity and competencies that the workshop covered.
