Why is impact measurement important to us?

• What is impact measurement and how can we use it to further our aims?

• What are the impact metrics that impact investors use (introduction to IRIS methodology, SROI)?

• What impact are we trying to achieve? What are appropriate indicators of progress and what information is required to evidence change?

• How can impact assessment help us learn, scale and grow?

• What resources should we allocate to impact measurement?

• How can we collectively measure impact and inform how to transform the food system?

Day 2 (9.00-13.30)

  • Practicalities of Impact Measurement • What works • Challenges and pitfalls in impact measurement • What social investors look for • Resources allocation • Impact measurement roadmap and action planning 2. Systems Change • Mapping what we do with each other across supply chain • Policy influence and advocacy

 

About the trainers:
Bonnie Chiu, Managing Director (Main Trainer):

Bonnie joined TSIC in autumn 2014 and leads on the firm’s high-value client work and its international expansion. She is an expert in impact measurement, having delivered large-scale, multi-year impact evaluation projects; and is familiar with qualitative and quantitative research methods. She holds a ILM Development Award in Social Return on Investment and a Certificate in Foundations of Data Science from the University of Berkeley. She is a Forbes 30 Under 30 Social Entrepreneur in Europe, having founded Lensational which empowers marginalised women and girls in 23 countries through photography and digital skills training. Bonnie has a Masters in International Relations at the London School of Economics and a Bachelor of Business Administration with First Honours. She serves as a Non-Executive Director at City to Sea, an environmental campaigning organisation, and a Board member of the Global Alumni Advisory Board of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. She is also an independent convener of networks with investors focused on diversity and inclusion, including the Diversity Forum and Women in Social Finance.

Aureliane Froehlich,Analyst: 

Auréliane completed a BA in Social Anthropology from the University of Fribourg (Switzerland) and a Masters in Human Rights at University College London, where she also undertook a course on statistics and research methods at their Centre for Applied Statistics.She has strong qualitative and quantitative research skills and her research experienceincluded, for instance, refugee rights in Germany and the Roma community in Romania. Prior to joining TSIC, she also worked in the documentary film industry and NGO sector in Germany and for the Friedrich-Ebert Foundation in Tunisia, with a specific focus on women’s empowerment as well as refugee rights. Sheis fluent in French, English, German, and is currently learning Arabic.
