The event "Food Waste: Waste or Resource?" addresses the critical issue of food waste, exploring innovative strategies for its reduction and repurposing. Participants will learn about national efforts and current legislative developments at both European and national levels aimed at minimizing food waste, with a focus on its environmental, social, and economic impacts.
A key part of the program is a workshop that will highlight practical examples of successful food waste reduction initiatives from various sectors. The workshop will be interactive, encouraging participants to work in teams, brainstorm solutions, and share ideas to tackle the food waste challenge. Through collaboration, participants will present their findings and proposals.
The event concludes with a visit to Insitut Jožef Stefan showcasing a good practice case study in managing food waste effectively.
The aim of the event is to raise awareness about the growing issue of food waste, explore sustainable solutions, and foster collaboration among stakeholders. By addressing current legislative developments and guidelines at European and national levels, the workshop seeks to equip participants with practical knowledge and strategies to reduce food waste. Through interactive brainstorming and teamwork, the event aims to generate innovative proposals that contribute to sustainable resource management and promote a circular economy.
