Farm to Fork Workshop

Farm to Fork is a key concept for the future of the European food system: from farm to consumer, every link in the chain must become more sustainable, more efficient, and more fair. In this spirit, we are organizing the Farm to Fork Workshop – an interactive event, part of the EIT Food Hub Romania initiatives, dedicated to those who want to actively contribute to the transition toward a responsible agrifood sector.

This workshop is an opportunity to better understand real challenges and solutions across the food chain, through direct dialogue between farmers, entrepreneurs, startups, and experts.

We’ll be discussing:

• sustainable food production and ways to reduce environmental impact;
• shortening supply chains to support local producers;
• reducing food waste;
• EU policies under the Farm to Fork Strategy and how they influence agricultural practices, food processing, and consumption

14:00 – 14:15 — Opening & Context

We’ll introduce the conceptual framework and the theme of the “Farm to Fork” workshop. You’ll understand the stakes and your role in this conversation.

14:15 – 15:00 — Panel with Food System Stakeholders

You’ll hear diverse perspectives—from farmers and retailers to public authorities and consumers—on current challenges and future opportunities.

15:00 – 15:15 — Inspiring Case

An example of a successful initiative that changed the game in sustainable food systems.

15:15 – 15:45 — World Café: Recurring Challenges in Farm to Fork

In small groups, you’ll discuss key issues in five areas: production, distribution, retail, consumption, and policy.

15:45 – 16:00 — Short Break

Time to recharge before we shift into creative mode! ☕

16:00 – 16:30 — Problem Mapping

Each group will dive deeper into a selected issue and analyze it using the Problem Tree method.

16:30 – 17:00 — Ideation & Proposed Solution

Time for solutions! You’ll work with your group on a concrete proposal.

17:00 – 17:15 — Final Solution Presentations

Each group will pitch their idea in plenary. 3 minutes each—it’s time to convince!

17:15 – 17:35 — Closing Talk

An inspirational moment with a special guest who has driven real change in their community.

17:35 – 18:00 — Wrap-up & Follow-up

We’ll recap the key outcomes and reflect on next steps—what we keep, what we take forward.
