Opterra.ai simplifies co-financing for resilient, future-proof agriculture. We help banks and food companies to invest together in flexible, farmer-friendly loans. This allows farmers to experiment with new practices that restore soil health and ultimately cut Scope 3 emissions, strengthen supply chains, and de-risk loan portfolios.
What motivated you to build a startup in this sector?
We started Opterra based on the crucial role agriculture plays amid a changing climate and biodiversity under pressure. Yet the shift to climate-smart and regenerative farming, while benefiting farmers, food companies, and funder, is lacking access to sufficient finance. That's why we're building Opterra: a platform that makes it easier for actors across the value chain to share the risks, costs, and benefits of the transition—allowing more money to flow into future-proof farming.
