Searo Labs is a Cambridge-based startup founded by husbandand- wife team Ayça Dündar and Francis Field. The startup tackles both the issues of food waste and plastic use with their patented seaweed-based materials. Searo’s material technology is uniquely able to combine shelf life extending properties, reducing food waste, within a material that looks and feels like plastic but contains no plastic or bioplastic. After use, Searo material is fully biodegradable within 28 days, nourishing the soil. Searo uniquely offers the first natural- polymer material to function on existing packing lines allowing for easy adoption.
