Profile

University of Beira Interior (UBI) is one of the most recent public universities in Portugal. Several learning and research facilities, structured into 5 Faculties, 16 research units, have been carefully implemented. The fields of knowledge present in the Faculties encompass Engineering, Exact Sciences, Social Sciences, Humanities, Arts and Health Sciences. Outstanding quality and expertise is widely recognized regarding our researchers. UBI has been growing in terms of number of students; having presently around 8500, nationals and foreigners. UBI offers 30 graduation courses, 59 masters, and 30 doctoral courses in the 5 faculties. UBI currently has more than 700 teachers and 270 employees in its 5 faculties and 14 departments.
UBI’s units and services are strongly committed to reach high levels of achievement, both in teaching and research, for the benefit of the whole community. Results range from knowledge transfer, entrepreneurship, international R&D projects and consortia, up to spin offs based on the research findings of graduate students and researchers. UBI´s research activity is supported by numerous research projects funded by the EU, national programs (FCT), public or private corporations. A regular flow of publications in peer-reviewed journals, communication in international conferences and many subsequent doctoral theses have been regularly produced.

Profile: With approximately 9000 students, UBI has than 29 undergraduate or master courses, 40 2nd cycle/master courses and 25 3rd cycle/doctorate courses, distributed by its 5 faculties: Faculty of Sciences, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Faculty of Arts and Letters and Faculty of Health Sciences. Currently, in terms of human resources, UBI has more than 600 teachers and 270 employees throughout its five faculties and services
