IBISS is the national institute of the Republic of Serbia, founded in 1947 and dedicated to the continuous education of researchers. We are the leading multidisciplinary scientific institution in Serbia in the field of biological sciences. In our work we focus on two main strategic goals: excellence in science and improvement of knowledge and technology transfer. As a long-standing institution dedicated primarily to scientific excellence, IBISS carries out numerous national and international projects and collaborations. Over the past two years, IBISS researchers have been actively involved in the development of innovations and have
increased our potential for technology transfer. We are certain that the results of basic biological research can ultimately be applied in all areas of social development in which biology has a contribution to make, which also includes food. We strive to push our boundaries from purely scientific goals to innovation and practical approaches, using the most advanced research methods. We believe that continued efforts in this direction will help to better educate researchers, especially younger ones, and motivate them to get involved but also to innovate and advance current practices in food science. In this way, IBISS promotes
innovation and entrepreneurship through better education that will enable the transition to a future sustainable economy. A large number of undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD students are trained at IBISS, and as a member of the University of Belgrade, our researchers actively participate in teaching in undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD programs. Our work is closely linked to the objectives of EIT Food as we strive to develop innovative solutions to key
challenges such as food safety, health benefits, sustainability and consumer confidence through our research and projects.
