Co-creating better food environments in underprivileged areas

An EIT Food Consumer Observatory study on understanding European consumer food decisions in underprivileged areas.

01 Oct 2022

We set out to explore the question of how to improve the food environment for inhabitants of underprivileged areas, by carrying out two focus groups in the southwestern part of The Hague, within the Netherlands. In total 19 participants took part in the two sessions: 6 men and 13 women, aged 21 to 67 from a range
of ethnic backgrounds (including Dutch, Middle Eastern/Arabic and Caribbean/Surinamese).

This study investigates the barriers for consumers to accessing healthy and sustainable food in specific areas.
