The VI Edition of the EIT Food Agro-Food Journalism Award took place on November 11 at the Scuderia Future Food Living Lab in Bologna, organized by EIT Food in collaboration with the Future Food Institute.

The ceremony celebrated excellence in agro-food journalism, recognizing authors who turn complex food system issues into accessible stories for the public. Stefano Liberti won first place for “Il ricatto dei supermercati all'agricoltura italiana” (The Blackmail of Supermarkets to Italian Agriculture). Roberto Abela and Matteo Garuti followed with “I segreti della ricerca UE per fermare la strage delle api domestiche” (The Secrets of EU Research to Stop the Slaughter of Honeybees) and “Cioccolato del Futuro” (Chocolate of the Future).

Ada Aparicio, Communication Director of EIT Food South, highlighted the importance of these awards and praised the brilliant work of journalists in bringing complex agro-food information closer to society.

Afterwards, the talk “Science, Conscience, and Science Fiction,” moderated by Sara Roversi, President of the Future Food Institute, brought together experts from academia, media, and industry to discuss how science and journalism can drive a more just and regenerative food system.

Now in its sixth edition, the award remains a benchmark for European journalism on the agro-food transition. This year reached record participation, with 211 articles from 100 journalists representing 89 Italian media outlets, reflecting the growing commitment of the press to raise awareness about the future of food and our planet.

The evening concluded with an experiential aperitif curated by the Food Alchemist Team of the Future Food Institute, inspired by the event’s themes.
