Setting the Table: Standardising Food Impact Data
October 16 | h. 11:30 - 12:20
There are many challenges faced by industry in collecting, analysing, reporting and communicating data credibly. Equally, consumers are confused about what communications to trust and how to interpret and utilise this data. Join this session to learn about the work of Foundation Earth, which was recently acquired and integrated into EIT Food, and the new International Alliance for Food Impact Data and its scope of work in setting standards for environmental data within the food system.
Following an introduction, panelists will then bring in various perspectives on the role of environmental data in the food systems. Danone will share what challenges it faces in managing environmental data and how an Alliance on standards could support industry in generating intelligence to drive positive impact, while also managing credible communication to its supply chain and consumers. An expert researcher specialising in systems dynamics modeling will share examples of how data standards are fundamental in defining pathways for transformation within system that ensures a level playing field. Finally, a data analyst will share how environmental data stimulates innovation and empowers decision making from farm to fork and across the whole value chain.
