Canada is the world’s second-largest producer of pulses and has invested nearly CAD 500 million over the past five years into pulse protein innovation, grounded in sustainable agriculture and innovation. Yet, despite a strong innovation pipeline, Canada faces ongoing challenges in scaling up and accessing high-value markets. The European Union, through the Green Deal and Farm to Fork Strategy, is actively seeking to diversify diets and secure sustainable protein supply chains. This panel will explore how Canada and Europe can bridge this gap—linking research, innovation ecosystems, entrepreneurship, and industry to unlock the full potential of pulse proteins. It will examine how transatlantic partnerships can accelerate commercialisation, enable resilient supply chains, and deliver health-forward, climate-smart diets that benefit both regions.
