SAVOR
This project is a European collaboration funded by Erasmus+ that aims to strengthen the connection between agriculture, gastronomy and sustainability through education and digital innovation.
Food waste, lack of awareness around seasonality, and the disconnect between food production and consumption remain key challenges across Europe. SAVOR responds to these challenges by equipping learners, educators, professionals and consumers with practical knowledge and digital tools to support a more circular and sustainable food system.
What is SAVOR?
SAVOR develops an innovative digital application that links agricultural products with their gastronomic uses, highlighting seasonality, country of origin and circular economic practices.
The platform allows users to explore European horticultural products, understand how they are grown and harvested, and learn how they can be used efficiently in kitchens, gardens and food businesses.
By combining education, technology and real-life applications, the project promotes a better understanding of how food systems work — and how waste can be reduced at every stage of the value chain.

Key activities
The project develops educational materials focused on sustainable agriculture, gastronomy, the circular economy and food waste reduction, tailored to higher education and vocational training contexts.
These resources will be made available through a dedicated digital learning platform and website, hosting product information, learning modules, recipes and interactive tools that make sustainability tangible and actionable.
All tools and materials are pilot tested and validated with students, educators and professionals to ensure they are practical, relevant and easy to use in real-world settings.
SAVOR places strong emphasis on dissemination and public engagement, sharing results widely with education providers, food professionals and the wider public across Europe.
EIT Food’s role
We play a key role in SAVOR by bringing its expertise in food system innovation, sustainability, education and stakeholder engagement.
Within the project, EIT Food supports the design and implementation of communication and dissemination activities, helping ensure that SAVOR’s results reach diverse audiences across Europe.
EIT Food also contributes to the development of educational and digital content, ensuring alignment with broader European priorities such as circular food systems, green skills and consumer trust.
