Future Farm Lab
A simulation-based learning platform for resilient agriculture, helping educators, organisations, and decision-makers shape the future of food
Resilient agriculture is hard to teach
Most agrifood training tells, but doesn't teach.
Knowledge about resilient agriculture exists, but adoption is still too slow.
The challenge isn't awareness. It's decision-making capability. Farming decisions are complex, contextual, and interconnected.
Traditional approaches explain concepts, but rarely allow learners to practise decisions or understand long-term trade-offs.
As a result, people understand the ideas, but struggle to build the understanding they need to apply them in real-world contexts.
For complex systems, learning has to mirror reality
Teaching resilient agriculture can’t be reduced to a checklist.
It involves interconnected decisions, long time horizons, and real-world trade-offs that unfold over years.
To build real capability, learners need to practice making decisions, see how systems respond, and reflect on outcomes over time.
Future Farm Lab is a 3D simulation where learners make farming decisions and see the consequences unfold over seasons and years. Instead of just learning about resilient agriculture, they build the understanding to apply it.

How organisations use Future Farm Lab
Future Farm Lab is used in two main ways, depending on an organisation’s goals, timelines, and delivery needs.
Standardised Licensing
Ready-to-use learning missions for scaleable adoption.
Organisations access the Future Farm Lab platform and a growing catalogue of pre-built micromissions.
These can be integrated into existing courses, workshops, or training programmes with minimal setup, making it easy to pilot with a single cohort and scale over time.
Custom Modules
Bespoke learning experiences designed around specific projects or objectives.
Custom Modules are tailored learning experiences built on the Future Farm Lab platform.
They are designed around defined goals, audiences, and contexts, and can be branded and reused as part of project delivery, dissemination, or stakeholder engagement.
Who it's for
Future Farm Lab is designed for organisations working across education, policy, and practice in the food system.
- Educational institutions and training providers
Universities, agricultural colleges, and vocational education programmes integrating applied learning into curricula. - Organisations and businesses across the food system
Teams building shared understanding of resilient agriculture across sustainability, supply chains, or professional development. - EU-funded projects and policy-linked initiatives
Consortia and partnerships needing engaging learning, dissemination, or capability-building components.
