The competition, where ten Slovak finalists presented their innovative ideas, took place within the EIT Food Hub project. Ten teams attended the presentation: SAMO Europe; Living Elements; NU3Gen, Ltd.; B4D - biomimicry for design; BFT, Ltd.; Honey Lab; Naše-vaše; Modoo; Bee is to be and ŽI. Startup entrepreneurs in the food and agro-sector demonstrated their innovative ideas and fought for the prize of EUR 5,000 and 10,000.
The jury selected two winners. NU3Gen, Ltd. (established 2016) specializes in mediating and interpreting genetic data. Using genetic testing, customers learn more about their body, about potential risks, about their sports predisposition, get recommendations on how to eat properly, and much more. The second winner is Living Elements with a design experiment focusing on microalgae. The multifunctional luminaire containing micro-algae provides not only its basic function (light) but also local food for its consumers.
