The EIT Food Statutes offer different types of partnership opportunities. For more information on our membership forms please contact the EIT Food office of your region.

CORE PARTNERS

Conditions:

  • Be an industrial and/or service company or a higher education or research institution with legal personality
  • Be incorporated in a Member State of the European Union, in an Associated Country to Horizon 2020 at the date of first becoming a Core Partner, or in the United Kingdom
  • Be directly or indirectly active in or for the Food sector
  • Adhere to the objectives of EIT Food.
  • If applying for SME status, the SME definition as per Commission Recommendation 2003/361/EC of 6 May 2003 applied, as amended from time to time.

Partnership fees and rights:

  • Gold core partners paying an annual membership fee of 90.000 Euros can attend, speak and vote (5 votes) in the Partner Assembly, participate in EIT Food activities, for a corresponding EIT funding without limits.
  • Silver core partners paying an annual membership fee of 45.000 Euros can attend, speak and vote (2 votes) in the Partner Assembly, participate in EIT Food activities, for a corresponding EIT funding of a maximum amount of 500.000 Euros. 
  • SME core partners paying an annual membership fee of 22.500 Euros can attend, speak and vote (1 vote) in the Partner Assembly, participate in EIT Food activities, for a corresponding EIT funding of a maximum amount of 250.000 Euros. 

Obligations:

  • Pay the Partnership Fees
  • Become a member, a shareholder or a contractual partner as applicable of the EIT Food Co-location Centre, established in the region in which the organisation has its registered office  
  • Comply with the EIT Food applicable law, the Statuses & the By-Laws, and the decisions taken by the bodies of the Association.

How to submit a core membership request:

  • If interested in becoming a Core Partner, please email the EIT Food office of your region, and they will take you through the application process.
  • The EIT Food Supervisory Board will decide on applications taking into account the conditions set out for Core Partners (cf. above) and in respect of the principles of transparency and non-discrimination. It will provide a reasoned decision to the applicant.
  • The applicant has the right to appeal against a negative decision to the EIT Food Partner Assembly. The Partner Assembly decides about the appeal.

NETWORK PARTNERS

Conditions:

  • Be a legal entity and have the capabilities to contribute to the EIT Food activities.

Partnership Fees and Rights:

  • Network Partners paying an annual membership fee of 5000 Euros can participate in EIT Food activities and receive corresponding EIT funding for a maximum amount of 50.000 Euros. 
  • Participate in EIT Food activities, however not as Activity leaders
  • Participate in EIT Food Matchmaking/ lnnovation Market Activities
  • Network Partners cannot participate in the EIT Food Partner Assembly.

Obligations:

  • Comply with the EIT Food applicable law, the Statuses, the By-Laws and the decisions taken by the bodies of the Association.
  • Pay Partnership Fees.

  • If interested in becoming a Network Partner, please email the EIT Food office of your region and they will take you through the application process.
  • The EIT Food Management Board decides on applications taking into account the conditions set for Network Partners (cf. above) and in respect of the principles of transparency and non-discrimination. It will provide a reasoned decision to the applicant.

ASSOCIATES

Conditions:

  • Be a legal entity and have the capabilities to contribute to or participate in one or more EIT Food Activities upon invitation of a Core Partner or EIT Food itself.

Rights and Obligations:

  • Associate may participate in Activities with zero EIT funding but will not have the right to lead Activities;
  • Associates have the right to use the qualification as "Associate of EIT Food" for the duration of their participation in the specific Activities;
  • The EIT Food Management Board may invite Associates to Matchmaking/lnnovation Market activities of EIT Food;
  • Associates don’t pay partnership fees and cannot participate in the EIT Food Partner Assembly.

How to submit an Associate membership request:

  • If interested in becoming an Associate of EIT Food, please email the EIT Food office of your region and they will take you through the application process.
  • The EIT Food Management Board decides on applications taking into account the conditions set for Associates and in respect of the principles of transparency and non-discrimination. It will provide a reasoned decision to the applicant.

PROJECT CONTRIBUTORS

Conditions:

  • Joins “only” for participation in a specific project selected by EIT Food through an open call;
  • Be an industrial and/or service company or a higher education or research institution with legal personality and capability to contribute EIT Food Activities;
  • The qualification as Project Contributor shall end automatically when their participation in the specific KAVA is terminated.

Partnership fees and rights:

  • Project Contributors shall have the right to use the qualification as “Project Contributor” only for the duration of their participation in the specific KAVA;
  • They will not have the right to lead a project as Leader Partner;
  • The maximum amount for EIT funding for Project Contributors is capped at one hundred thousand euro (€ 100.000,00) per year;
  • The capped amount of EIT funding provided herein can be adapted on the basis of a decision of the Management Board, stating the underlying reasons for such decision.
  • They will not have voting rights and cannot attend Partner Assembly;
  • They will not have access to matchmaking/innovation market activities of EIT Food and they will not be included in other projects than the ones they have been selected for.
  • Project Contributors fees are determined by the Management Board and maybe subject to further amendments. There is no possibility to request a waiver.

Obligations:

  • Pay the Partnership Fees and comply with the EIT Food applicable law, the Statutes, the By-Laws and the decisions taken by the bodies of the Association.
  • Project Contributors shall perform their KAVA tasks in a diligent and professional manner and shall be liable for the implementation of their tasks.
  • Project Contributors shall provide all reports required in the legally binding agreements for the purpose of the participation in the KIC Activities;
  • Become a member, a shareholder or a contractual partner as applicable of the EIT Food Co-location Centre, established in the region in which the organisation has its registered office;
  • Comply with the EIT Food applicable law, the Statutes, the By-Laws, and the decisions taken by the bodies of the Association.
