On 17th of October, Lorena Savani, Innovation Programme Manager at EIT Food, took part in a debate on healthy food at Foro Innova. This Forum is the reference event in Extremadura (Spain) in technological exchange, knowledge and innovative trends; an appointment with leading experiences on the national scene and with the most prominent protagonists of R&D&I.
The discussion was conducted by Vicente Monge, Senior Agricultural Engineer from the UPM. He currently works as an independent food professional at Amaltea Europe Food, S.L., and as a commercial director at Ajos La Veguilla, S.L. His professional career has always been linked to the agri-food sector, and he has extensive experience in managing relevant companies in the sector and in managing innovative projects for food companies. Monge stimulated the debate by giving a general presentation on the topic, before presenting Lorena Savani, from EIT Food and Esther Esteban, Director at INIA.
Esteban exposed her scientific vision and gave the floor to Savani, who presented the EIT Food Community and talked about specific EIT Food initiatives related to healthy nutrition, such SureBic, UnderPRESSURE and QUISPER.
“Informing, educating and giving tools to consumer facilitates their access to healthy food and increases their trust in what they eat” - Lorena Savani
The conversation ended with a Q&R session, when the audience, composed of companies and researchers from the agribusiness, food technology or bioeconomy and circular economy sector, had the chance to interact with the speakers and clarify their doubts.
