00:00:06:06 - 00:00:09:06 2022 was a big year for our community. 00:00:09:16 - 00:00:12:06 We were faced with significant challenges. 00:00:12:06 - 00:00:16:16 The Russian invasion of Ukraine and extreme weather events caused by climate crisis 00:00:17:00 - 00:00:20:00 put increasing pressure on our food systems, 00:00:20:04 - 00:00:22:22 but the strength of our community persists. 00:00:22:22 - 00:00:27:17 We continue to innovate and we continue to work together to co-create solutions 00:00:27:22 - 00:00:32:05 which will transform the way we produce and consume food in Europe, 00:00:32:11 - 00:00:35:11 and this gives me hope for the future. 00:00:35:20 - 00:00:39:16 This excellence and the importance placed on the value of our community 00:00:39:22 - 00:00:45:09 is evident from the award of nearly €180 million in grant funding 00:00:45:09 - 00:00:48:23 for 2023 to 2025 from the EIT. 00:00:50:03 - 00:00:52:04 In the next three years, we will use 00:00:52:04 - 00:00:55:04 the momentum we have created to build on our successes 00:00:55:04 - 00:00:59:00 and really focus our efforts on impact in our three Mission areas. 00:01:07:20 - 00:01:11:03 Alongside this, we will also be evolving our partnership model 00:01:11:05 - 00:01:15:13 to maximise our impact by focusing on the strength of our portfolio 00:01:15:20 - 00:01:20:00 and ensuring we are recognising and meeting the needs of our partners. 00:01:21:01 - 00:01:23:20 My highlights from 2022 include 00:01:23:20 - 00:01:26:09 first of all, startups and support. 00:01:26:09 - 00:01:29:09 2022 was another great year for the startups 00:01:29:09 - 00:01:32:10 that we have been supporting through our entrepreneurship programmes. 00:01:33:07 - 00:01:36:05 Thanks to our dedicated corporate venture services, 00:01:36:05 - 00:01:40:05 more than 25+ matches were made between startups and industry. 00:01:41:04 - 00:01:44:20 on to prize-based challenges and the Innovation Call 2023. 00:01:45:08 - 00:01:49:18 Ten innovative solutions and startups were awarded in our two newly created 00:01:49:18 - 00:01:54:18 prize-based challenges on personalised nutrition for all, with Food Valley Netherlands 00:01:54:21 - 00:01:59:09 and Food Innovation Hub Europe, and on cultivated meats with GFI Europe. 00:01:59:21 - 00:02:01:01 We also launched a call 00:02:01:01 - 00:02:05:07 for innovative projects that will create positive change in the food system. 00:02:05:16 - 00:02:07:19 Then on to Education Learning Services, 00:02:07:19 - 00:02:10:11 and graduation of the Masters of Food Systems. 00:02:11:04 - 00:02:15:07 October 2022 was a big month for education at EIT Food. 00:02:15:15 - 00:02:19:17 We launched Education Learning Services, a new pan-European standard 00:02:19:19 - 00:02:22:18 for professional education in the agrifood industry, 00:02:22:18 - 00:02:25:22 and we celebrated the graduation of 30+ students 00:02:26:06 - 00:02:29:10 from our EIT-labelled Masters in Food Systems Programme. 00:02:30:19 - 00:02:33:17 Then also about empowering women in agrifood. 00:02:33:17 - 00:02:38:07 Our empowering women and agrifood programmes supported more than 100 female 00:02:38:07 - 00:02:42:05 entrepreneurs from 13 European countries with tailored training, 00:02:42:10 - 00:02:48:16 mentorship and networking opportunities. Now going into its third year, the project culminated 00:02:48:16 - 00:02:52:12 in the first Women in Agrifood summit in December of 2022. 00:02:53:07 - 00:02:56:17 The next generation of leaders, decision makers and consumers 00:02:56:17 - 00:02:59:17 remain at the heart of our public engagement work. 00:03:00:03 - 00:03:04:10 We know that the ages between 9 and 18 are crucial to inspire leadership, 00:03:04:10 - 00:03:07:17 entrepreneurial mindset and vocational possibilities. 00:03:08:09 - 00:03:12:16 This is why, through the Youth Mission, EIT Food will motivate generations 00:03:12:16 - 00:03:16:20 to realise potential career choices in the agrifood sector. 00:03:17:02 - 00:03:22:15 In 2022, together with multiple partners, we have capitalised on previous assets 00:03:22:23 - 00:03:26:07 developed in earlier education and public engagement projects, 00:03:26:13 - 00:03:30:17 resulting in ready-to-use resource packs with and for teachers 00:03:31:00 - 00:03:34:18 for the age groups of 9 to 14 and 15 to 18, 00:03:35:01 - 00:03:37:17 which are available in multiple European languages. 00:03:38:21 - 00:03:43:06 And then on to policy events. Shaping and contributing to policies 00:03:43:06 - 00:03:47:19 on a national, EU and international level which promote food systems 00:03:47:19 - 00:03:51:19 transformation was again on our agenda for 2022. 00:03:52:02 - 00:03:56:00 In June, our Future of Food conference provided a platform for dialogue 00:03:56:06 - 00:04:00:05 between EU policymakers and other key agrifood stakeholders 00:04:00:11 - 00:04:03:11 to chart the pathway for transformation. 00:04:04:00 - 00:04:07:20 And in November, EIT Food was a co-host of the first-ever 00:04:08:02 - 00:04:11:02 Food Systems Pavilion at COP 27. 00:04:11:18 - 00:04:14:18 And now a bit about community. 00:04:14:22 - 00:04:18:12 Our community came together at the annual event in October 2022. 00:04:19:05 - 00:04:21:14 It was amazing to meet everyone in person again 00:04:21:14 - 00:04:24:14 after a year of challenges and change. 00:04:24:23 - 00:04:29:19 The challenges of the food systems are significant, but it is very inspiring 00:04:29:19 - 00:04:32:19 to see our community responding with such enthusiasm, 00:04:33:05 - 00:04:36:01 and I look forward to more of this in 2023. 00:04:37:00 - 00:04:38:07 I will finish by saying 00:04:38:07 - 00:04:42:10 thank you to our whole community for all the hard work and dedication 00:04:42:10 - 00:04:46:02 over the past year, and I look forward to continuing our work together 00:04:46:07 - 00:04:49:07 to build a healthy and sustainable food system. 00:04:49:18 - 00:04:50:06 Thank you.
