The first International Cellular Agriculture Conference – Harnessing Biotechnology for food production

 

On June 14-15, 2023, Helsinki will become the meeting place for cellular agriculture R&D&I professionals and other actors in the field.

 

VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland with the EIT Food partnership organises the first International Cellular Agriculture conference that brings all the sub-topics of cellular agriculture under one two-day event to enhance interdisciplinary co-creation processes and to facilitate the birth of new partnerships.

This on-site event gathers top experts and actors in the field of cellular agriculture for food production to share the latest research results, and news from the industry and to network for new partnerships and ideation. The aim is also to share information with decision-makers and stakeholders, especially in the EU.

 

Agenda

Day 1, June 14th, concentrates on business development and policy viewpoints, delivered by industry representatives and decision makers. The morning holds the unique opportunity to visit the new Solar Foods Factory 01 as well as networking with the latest start-ups, actors and stakeholders in the field.

Day 2, June 15th, gives an overview of research and development in the field of cellular agriculture, with four thematic sessions: precision fermentation, microbial and algal biomass, cultivated meat and plant cells, as well as sustainability and safety aspects.

 

EIT Food Protein Diversification Think Tank "Driving the food system transformation"

On June 14th EIT Food will host a panel discussion to shed light on the EIT Food Protein Diversification Think Tank, recently undertaken work and its role in driving the transformation of the food system. Join the panellists: Kari Tronsmo, Open Innovation manager, Danone, Think Tank president and Marja-Liisa Meurice, Director of EIT Food North-East Region, Think Tank EIT Food key leader as they discuss the importance of collaboration and open innovation in shaping a sustainable and inclusive food system for the future.

 

EIT Food FAN Demo afternoon on June 14th
EIT FAN Helsinki HUB topic in 2023 is Scaling the alternative protein revolution. Including topics such’s precision fermentation, microbial and algae biomass, cultivated meat and plant cell cultures. We will select 10 startups to join our program in spring 2023. The food accelerator network is the EIT Food program, which has been running since 2018 by supporting (pre) seed-funded startups by accelerating their growth.  EIT FAN Demo day is kept on afternoon June 14th as part of this event. It's a great opportunity for networking and seeing top startups of the Alternative protein revolution who pitch their solutions for a better future. The EIT FAN Demo session is free, but pre-registration is needed via the registration platform.
