Food Innovation Lab - EIT Summer School 2019

Food Innovation Lab - EIT Summer School 2019

Innovative solutions are required to tackle the global food challenges of today and identify opportunities along the entire food value chain.

The “Food Innovation Lab” aims at guiding interdisciplinary teams of students and young professionals through an innovation process – from identifying challenges, developing consumer-centric solutions to prototyping in the laboratory and business model development. Latest research on sociological aspects of food innovations and consumer behaviour is used to best possibly design future food products and solutions. The course ends with a pitching event where all business ideas and prototypes are presented in front of a jury of experts (professors, entrepreneurs, experts and investors). The “Food Innovation Lab” strengthens participants to think out of the box, enables them to develop novel consumer-centric solutions for global food challenges, and thus empowers them to have a sustainable impact as future entrepreneurs or employees.

Summer School Information

The EIT Food “Entrepreneurial Summer School: Food Innovation Lab” brings together 30 international students and professionals from engineering, natural and social sciences, humanities and design to tackle global food challenges. In the 15 days program, participants will go through an innovation process - from identifying challenges, developing consumer-centric solutions to prototyping in the laboratory and business model development. Experts from industry and academia will share their knowledge and provide feedback to facilitate the development of impactful solutions.

The summer school is an educational program. We aim to strengthen participants to think out of the box, enable them to develop novel human-centered solutions for global food challenges, and thus empower them to have a sustainable impact as future entrepreneurs or employees.
