Host: Food Roots and Routes, Alianca Cientifica Antirracista, Catedra Josue de Castro, CONAQ
This panel brings together two complementary perspectives that help us understand both the challenges and the transformative possibilities within contemporary food systems. On one hand, a reflection on agrifood monotony and the risks of a hegemonic model grounded in the industrial homogenization of diets, territories, and knowledges. On the other, the counter-hegemonic epistemologies and experiences embodied in quilombola and other traditional food systems, which affirm diversity, relationality, and sovereignty.
The conversation invites participants to recognize that there is no single food system — and that alternative systems already exist, offering powerful lessons on how to confront the dominant model by nurturing diversity and sovereignty. Held in the Plenary Room.
