This interactive policy roundtable workshop explores how regional cooperation, cross-border collaboration, and actionable policy innovation can drive the transformation of agri-food systems across Africa. Building on insights from experts and global experiences, the session emphasizes how adaptive, place-based, and transboundary solutions can be scaled to strengthen food and climate security across diverse African contexts and will focus on Malabo Declaration in particular, however, will provide examples from other regions and reflect on intersectionality with water, climate, and human security (agenda, also human mobility patterns and pathways trigger from water, food and climate crises)
Participants will reflect on
Examine regional governance models that move beyond planning to coordinated implementation across borders;
Explore cross-border pathways for integrating adaptation and resilience in agri-food and climate policy;
Share regional experiences and lessons from Africa and other parts of the world on scaling innovation for food system and climate resilience;
Comment on how to strengthen relationships among regional bodies, national governments, and international partners to align strategies for food security and climate justice, and sustainability (SDGs implementation).
The workshop aims to equip participants with practical insights, collaborative frameworks, and policy tools to shape transformative action that bridges innovation, inclusion, and implementation. By learning from other regions while building on Africa’s regional declaration, the discussion will chart a path toward resilient, climate change-impacted, and food-secure futures and well-being.
